From São Paulo, Brazil, Riko and Gugga bring their infectious energy and love for nostalgic sounds to an exciting conversation about their music journey and creative chemistry. Known for blending 80s pop, disco, and modern indie dance, the duo describe their style as “heavy, fun, and 80s-inspired,” taking cues from artists like Tears for Fears and Duran Duran while reimagining their sound for today’s dance floors. Their recent release Motherlovers—a cleverly renamed track to dodge censorship—recently hit the Beatport charts and showcases their playful yet polished approach to production.
The pair’s story reflects a unique balance of passion and discipline. Producing, mixing, and mastering everything in-house, Riko and Gugga average two to three days to complete a track and release around 30 each year. With multiple Beatport top-charting singles under their belt, including the breakout remix of Voyage Voyage, they’ve proven that independent dedication can lead to international success. Their work has appeared in genres from progressive house to melodic techno, earning recognition for both artistry and consistency.
Beyond the music, the duo discuss their shared struggles with social media, the challenges facing Brazil’s shrinking club scene, and the power of festivals and underground events to unite dance culture. They share hilarious gig stories, like holding their vibrating mixer in place mid-set, and heartfelt moments such as hearing their songs played at major festivals for the first time. For Riko and Gugga, it’s all about authenticity, connection, and bringing people together—whether it’s in a packed club or a Buenos Aires bookstore.

Thomas Turner, the visionary founder of Relentless Beats, joins from Phoenix, Arizona, to discuss his journey from club DJ to one of the most influential live event producers in the United States. With over three decades in the industry, Thomas reflects on starting as an enthusiast and throwing underground events in old post offices before turning his passion into a full-scale business in the early 2000s. Today, Relentless Beats produces more than 500 events annually, from intimate club nights to massive festivals across multiple states.
He describes his early motivations as driven not by profit but by a desire to fill a cultural void in Arizona’s nightlife. Over time, this vision expanded nationally through strategic partnerships, including East Meets West in New York. Thomas explains the evolution of major festivals such as Decadence, Gold Rush, and Phoenix Lights, highlighting the creative process behind curating each lineup and venue experience. For him, every event serves as a reflection of the community, emphasizing both artistic diversity and fan connection.
The discussion also delves into the modern realities of event culture, from managing safety operations to addressing cell phone use at shows. Thomas offers insight into Relentless Rangers, a fan-first initiative that ensures guests’ well-being at every festival. He also shares thoughts on “proper house” and his passion for maintaining authenticity in an increasingly commercialized scene.
Despite overseeing hundreds of productions a year, Thomas remains grounded in creativity and collaboration. His message to fans is simple: join the movement, celebrate responsibly, and help shape the next era of dance music culture.

Larse joins from Dortmund, Germany, bringing his soulful and emotive take on house music to the conversation. Fresh from a trip to Ibiza, he reflects on playing at Six Senses, a sunset performance that coincided with the launch of his new single and his label, VASH Recordings. For him, music is about creating vibes that capture a moment, whether through deep house grooves, soulful vocals, or downtempo textures.
He describes his journey from sampling vinyl as a teenager to producing on an Atari with Cubase in the early 90s, highlighting how limitations pushed his creativity. Today, with decades of experience and millions of streams behind him, his perspective balances artistry with the realities of modern streaming and promotion. While the industry has shifted from downloads to streams, he believes longevity and authenticity remain the real measures of success.
Family plays a central role in his life, with his kids often reminding him of balance between studio time and personal time. He admits that staying fit and managing health is a challenge, but one made easier by the energy of parenthood. His children may prefer hip-hop, but they occasionally peek into his world, bringing a new layer of inspiration.
Looking ahead, Larse is focused on growing VASH Recordings, building it first with his own tracks and eventually expanding to artists he believes in. His advice for upcoming producers is simple: finish your tracks, trust your instincts, and release music you fully stand behind. With new reworks like Chicane’s Offshore on the way, he shows no sign of slowing down.

Summary
Robbo Fitzgibbons brings a versatile and seasoned perspective to his career as a DJ, producer, and radio host. Based in New York, Robbo blends hip hop, R&B, and house into his sets, reflecting his belief that a DJ’s role is to entertain across genres. From weddings and bar mitzvahs to clubs and festivals, he thrives on reading the crowd and creating memorable experiences. His studio, Eastlake, serves as the creative hub where he produces tracks, his radio show, and imaging work.
Robbo’s career took shape through word of mouth on Long Island, where consistent gigs built his reputation and confidence. He emphasizes the importance of cutting ties with unproductive relationships, noting that this freedom allowed him to focus on meaningful partnerships and touring opportunities with rap artists. Touring taught him the difference between performing in intimate rooms and commanding stadiums, helping him refine his approach to connecting with diverse audiences.
His upcoming releases, La Serenidad and So Funky, reflect his dual focus on tracks that resonate emotionally and deliver club-ready energy. Robbo views success as goal-oriented, centered on building a catalog, securing remix opportunities, and maintaining steady performance work. He highlights the role of creativity and technology in DJing, embracing tools like the REV7 for stems to create unique performances.
Beyond music, Robbo hosts his Monday Night Mix show, broadcasting on One Way Soul, Rewind Digital Network, and stations across the U.S. He remains dedicated to growth, collaboration, and inspiring listeners, whether through radio, production, or live sets. For him, the mission is simple: keep people engaged, entertained, and moving.

Summary
Anni and Aaron, the duo behind Late Aster, bring a refreshing perspective that bridges classical training with electronic experimentation. Based in San Francisco, they share how their artist name reflects a balance between the natural and the celestial - Anni’s love of flowers and Aaron’s fascination with stars. Together, they craft music they describe as “jazztronica with brass,” blending brass instruments with electronic textures in an innovative hybrid style.
Their upcoming debut album City Living showcases this fusion, created with a vintage Tascam four-track cassette recorder. The duo explains how working within the limits of analog tape forced them to embrace imperfection, often recording live takes that highlight raw honesty. Tracks like Ctrl-F Discipline emerged from this process, where constraints became opportunities to rethink production and storytelling.
Beyond their technical approach, Anni and Aaron discuss how their perfectionist tendencies find balance in collaboration, and how embracing “wabi-sabi” - beauty in imperfection - shaped their latest work. Their creative journey is also guided by influences ranging from Wagner’s Gesamtkunstwerk concept to the bold reinvention of artists like Miles Davis.
They speak candidly about the challenges of translating studio recordings into live performances, often requiring intricate synchronization between horns, sequencers, and loop pedals. Yet, they thrive on the tension of live experimentation, pushing themselves to deliver unique experiences. Looking ahead, they remain dedicated to blending tradition with innovation, whether through lo-fi tape projects or fully produced modern releases.

About Late Aster -
Situated somewhere between post-bop jazz, electronica, and chamber pop, San Francisco-based Late Aster’s music has been described as producing “unprecedented sounds” (SF Chronicle) that “on paper [] shouldn’t work, but it does.” (Tape-Op) Their two previous releases, EPs “True and Toxic” (2021) and "Light Rail Session" (2023), articulate a kaleidoscopic theory of music grounded in the electronic processing of trumpet and French horn and supported by meticulous songwriting, instrumentation, and sound-sculpting.
Late Aster’s upcoming album, City Livin’, finds the group channeling their genre-bending sound through the vintage TASCAM Portastudio 414 MKII – a true do-it-yourself cassette recorder/mixer from the late 90s. The album whirrs through house, trap, and hip-hop beats as the foundation for the group’s distinctive and soulful performances of fx-pedal brass, vocals, and dark synths. Made up of ten impressionist sketches, City Livin’ is a nod to the “lo-fi beats” genre and to trumpet player/composer/producer Aaron Messing’s day job as an environmental attorney. With inspiration from jazz, alt-rock, and folk, the album is a journey through other-wordly, urban soundscapes featuring fully instrumental performances, a cover of “Miss Ohio” as a love letter to Gillian Welch, and the poetic sampling of Alan Watts’ voice.
Aaron Messing studied classical trumpet performance at Northwestern University before going to law school and becoming an environmental attorney. He routinely sends ideas for songs to long-time collaborator and mixing engineer, Charles Mueller, as he practices law by day and music by night. Charles jokingly came up with the album title when Aaron recently became obsessed with the lo-fi beats genre. The album is a fly on the wall in the artists’ home studio with endearing and raw performances of horns and vocals. All tracks were recorded in San Francisco, CA after work and on weekends with French horn player, Anni Hochhalter, and is intended to be played in the background of a dinner party, a night-time drive, or maybe a hip coffee shop. It is composed to be a vintage, yet contemporary wallpaper for the contemplation of our current geopolitical moment and the modern human condition.
Late Aster currently performs as a duo featuring Aaron Messing and Anni Hochhalter, integrating the electronic and physical elements of their recordings in a synchronized dance with their array of instruments and each other. The visual result resembles an analogue electronic DJ set, but with live instrumental performances.

ASTOR - Balancing Finance and Progressive House Dreams on the Virtual Sessions
Thursday Sep 25, 2025
Thursday Sep 25, 2025
Summary
Liam McNamara, known as ASTOR, brings a unique story of blending a full-time finance career with an emerging path as a DJ and producer. Based in New York City, he describes how his love for progressive house grew from festival experiences and artists like Avicii, Calvin Harris, and the Chainsmokers. For ASTOR, music follows cycles, and he believes the melodic, euphoric energy of progressive house is ready for a resurgence in the global scene.
Originally pursuing music as a hobby after completing his CFA exams, ASTOR quickly evolved from curiosity to club performances. His breakthrough came when he was offered the chance to open for Julian Jordan, followed by opportunities to share the stage with Hardwell and Nicky Romero. These early shows fueled his commitment to production, supported by mentorship from Mikey Ferrari, who guided him from the basics of Ableton to creating professional tracks.
With releases like Storm, Holding Tight, and most recently Stars, ASTOR has demonstrated consistency in hitting his yearly release goals. He explains how regimented schedules, daily practice, and goal setting allow him to balance demanding work with music creation. His success on Revealed Radar with Holding Tight marked a major milestone, proving that persistence pays off even while self-releasing.
ASTOR also shares his experience at Afrojack’s Wall Pro Academy writer’s camp during Tomorrowland, calling it an inspiring and transformative moment that pushed him further. Looking forward, he aims for bigger festival stages while staying grounded with small club sets, always focused on connecting emotionally with his audience through melody and energy.
