Summary
Alejandro, founder of the White Collar Project, joins from Surrey, UK to share his journey of transforming personal struggle into a thriving creative movement. Originally working in a different industry, Alejandro turned to vinyl DJing as an escape from depression during a legal battle. What started as therapy soon evolved into a project blending music, fashion, and art under one brand. His story highlights how resilience and creativity can redefine purpose and connection.
Alejandro describes his sound as a fusion of house, Detroit techno, and Latin rhythms, heavily influenced by salsa and his South American heritage. For him, vinyl is more than a medium—it’s a tactile, emotional, and imperfect art form that forces DJs to truly know their music. He contrasts this with modern digital tools, admiring new technology while advocating for authenticity and skill.
The conversation also dives into fashion as a vital expression of identity. Alejandro sees clothing and art as extensions of performance, shaping how audiences perceive and connect with the artist. This ethos underpins the White Collar Project’s merchandise, designed to merge minimalism with creativity.
Beyond music and fashion, Alejandro is candid about mental health, stressing the importance of openness and community. He emphasizes building safe spaces where people can disconnect from phones, focus on music, and share positive experiences. With his weekly White Collar Party livestream and plans for global expansion, Alejandro is committed to celebrating analog culture while embracing innovation.

About Alejandro -
The White Collar Project didn’t begin on a stage. It began in silence.
After years of spinning vinyl in Caracas and later in London’s techno clubs, music had to take a backseat. Life moved on. Business took over. And eventually, music stopped altogether. What followed was a ten year disconnect that spiraled into something darker. A legal battle that couldn’t be spoken about. A crushing wave of depression that left him isolated, numb, and on the edge of suicide. No family nearby. No support system. No voice.
But in the quiet, there was still a crate of records. Still a pair of decks. And that was enough.
With no plan to perform or go public again, he began recording vinyl only sets at home. They weren’t meant to be seen. They were surviving. Unfiltered, emotional sessions that captured something real. No sync. No screens. No edits. Just flow, feeling, and a deep respect for the craft. When those videos quietly appeared on YouTube, something unexpected happened. People connected. Within months, the channel grew. Within a year, over 100000 subscribers. Off fewer than ten uploads.
The White Collar Project had become more than a creative outlet. It had become a movement.
Today, the project lives at the intersection of vinyl DJing, streetwear, and visual art. Musically, the sets span everything from house to techno, tribal rhythms, Latin grooves, Afro textures, and unexpected vocal layers. It is a sound shaped by decades of digging and a lifetime of emotion.
At its core, The White Collar Project is a DJ project built on emotion, depth, and thoughtful curation. It is about telling stories through vinyl, playing music that resonates, and creating a space where imperfection is part of the magic. It does not chase trends or follow formulas. It is for those who understand that the right record can speak louder than words. This is a DJ who plays not to impress, but to connect, and every set is a reflection of that purpose.

Michael, better known as Textbook Maneuver, joins for an insightful conversation that explores how science, structure, and creativity intertwine in his musical journey. Growing up with a love for music but rooted in a professional career as a chemist, Michael shares how his analytical background influenced his approach to learning and producing. His artist name reflects this very methodical nature - diving into textbooks, experimenting, and developing a disciplined foundation before evolving into his current cinematic electronic sound.
He discusses his early piano lessons and the pivotal role of receiving a piano as a gift, which shaped his lifelong connection to music. Michael reflects on balancing influences from classical composers like Satie and Ravel with the raw energy of metal, punk, and progressive rock, which all feed into his eclectic style today. His EP Strike Joy and full-length album Adrenaline Slip mark milestones that not only capture his evolving sound but also symbolize his mission to create music that inspires positivity and introspection.
Throughout the interview, Michael highlights the challenges of standing out in a saturated digital landscape and the importance of trademarking and branding as an artist. He also shares his fascination with building unique sonic textures through software, synthesizers, and improvisation while acknowledging the perfectionist tendencies that sometimes slow creative flow. His vision for Life Science Records reflects his DIY ethic and a long-term goal to nurture other artists.
Michael’s story is one of curiosity, persistence, and innovation - blending scientific discipline with artistic exploration to forge a unique identity in electronic music.

About Textbook Maneuver -
Emerging electronic project Textbook Maneuver has unveiled a mesmerizing track and video, ‘Nocturnal Musings’, released on his Life Science Records, LLC imprint. With nearly 130,000 streams across platforms to date, the project has steadily drawn the attention of the global IDM and experimental electronic community.
Interviews with Magnetic Magazine, Illustrate Magazine, features on WWAM (We WriteAbout Music), Music For All (Brazil), and Good Music Radar have already highlighted the project’s immersive debut album Adrenaline Slip (2025). It is clear that Textbook Maneuver is emerging as one of experimental electronic music’s most intriguing new figures.
Michael Keane is the Bronx-born, New Jersey-based composer behind the Textbook Maneuver alias. A classically trained pianist with a punk DIY heart, Keane blends cerebral sound design with cinematic storytelling, drawing from a wide palette of influences that stretch from Genesis (Duke era), Rush, and Gary Numan to The Postal Service, U.N.K.L.E., and Phantogram. Under the Textbook Maneuver moniker, his releases balance the intellectual curiosity of IDM with the emotional resonance of ambient and prog-influenced electronica, offering soundscapes fit for film, television, and interactive media.
His music thrives on improvisation and sonic experimentation, refusing easy classification while remaining deeply accessible. With critics comparing his sound to Jon Hopkins and Nils Frahm, listeners are sure to hear echoes of Boards of Canada, μ-Ziq, and Squarepusher.
‘Nocturnal Musings’ is an off-kilter glitched-out dreamscape, unfolding with restless beats that shape-shift beneath jagged synth stabs, blinking beeps, and spectral textures, evoking the drift of a mind caught between realities. The accompanying video, all caught on a trail camera set up outside the artist’s studio, shows eerie black and white footage of animals meandering in the snow in the dead of night.
Textbook Maneuver shared:
“I spent much of my time composing for the Strike Joy EP in a fully screened porch at night, during the height of cricket and frog activity, focusing on loops and sound design. Elements of the rhythms and tones from nature helped inspire ‘Nocturnal Musings’. The video for the song is from footage I captured on the trail camera set up outside the studio, sticking with the night hours synced up with the song. It was a fun creative experience."
“A spaced-out odyssey of an album, leaning heavily into the ambient & leftfield side of electronic music.”
Magnetic Magazine
“Textbook Maneuver creates music that takes listeners on an atmospheric journey.”
Illustrate Magazine
“No words required here. It’s all emotive sound, frequencies, and there’s plenty of it to entertain, energize,
and even hypnotize.”Good Music Radar

Finding Universality in Sound with Nvrsoft on the Virtual Sessions 9/17/25
Wednesday Sep 17, 2025
Wednesday Sep 17, 2025
Summary
In this Virtual Sessions episode, host Darran Bruce welcomes Nvrsoft, also known as Kathy, to share her path from curious teenager to established artist in the drum and bass scene. She begins by reflecting on the origins of her stage name, rooted in gaming memories with her brother, and how those moments continue to influence her creative identity.
Kathy describes her music as deeply emotional, often carrying a “pretty sad” tone yet aimed at being universal. She feels a natural connection to liquid and jungle drum and bass while experimenting with halftime, trap, and experimental beats. Summary
In this Virtual Sessions episode, Milan-based singer and songwriter Erika Grapes opens up about her artistic journey, the meaning behind her stage name, and the evolution of her music. She explains how “Grapes” began as a playful nickname on music forums and eventually became her professional identity, representing the colorful and eclectic nature of her artistry.
Her latest single, a cover of Love is a Bitch by Two Feet, reflects both personal heartbreak and artistic transformation. Originally drawn to its sensual and bluesy vibe, Erika reimagined the track with an industrial edge inspired by Nine Inch Nails, blending cabaret-style rhythms with electronic textures. She recalls how recording the vocals became a cathartic release, channeling raw emotion into a bold new interpretation.
The conversation turns deeply personal as Erika shares the trauma that once drove her away from live performance and the healing process that helped her return to the stage. Collaborating with producer Eugene gave her the confidence to perform again, and she highlights the role of therapy, poetry, and self-expression in overcoming fear. Her lyric visualizer for Love is a Bitch emerged from improvised photography in an abandoned mill, showing her resourcefulness and creative vision.
Looking ahead, Erika teases upcoming projects including a dream pop original with producer Veronica Hall and a cover of Choking Outlines by Ren. She emphasizes the importance of authenticity, embracing eclecticism across genres, and letting inspiration arrive naturally rather than forcing it. With influences ranging from Fiona Apple to Nick Cave, Erika continues to craft music that balances vulnerability, experimentation, and resilience.

About Erika Grapes -
Erika Grapes (Erika Conti) is an Italian-Hungarian singer-songwriter whose work blends dream pop, electro-pop, and alternative pop. Born in Lovere, on Lake Iseo, and raised near Milan, she began her musical path performing in London with the band Bungalow Purple before moving into solo projects that explore a more cinematic and introspective sound.
Her music often merges nostalgic textures with modern electronic elements, shaped by influences ranging from Billie Holiday and Nina Simone to The Cure, Fiona Apple, and Lana Del Rey. Known for her ethereal voice and atmospheric arrangements, she has released both original tracks and distinctive reinterpretations of cult songs, including Mazzy Star’s “Into Dust”, Nick Cave’s “Red Right Hand”, and The Doors’ “People Are Strange.”
In 2024, her single “Once Upon an Ordinary” — co-written with Felix Subway and produced by Lorenzo Montanà — passed the first round of consideration at the Grammy Awards in the Best Alternative Performance category. Later that year, she released “Take My Heaven,” a new wave-inspired collaboration with Vincenzo of Way To Blue.
Her most recent project is a collaboration with electronic music artist Eugene (Eugenio Valente) on the single “Love is a Bitch” (2025), a reinterpretation of the Two Feet track accompanied by a lyric visualizer. The project highlights her continued interest in cross-genre collaborations and her exploration of darker, emotionally charged themes.
Active on platforms such as Bandcamp, Spotify, and Instagram, Erika describes her sound as “Indie Chill Dark Dream Pop with dashes of Fierce and Fatale.” Her work reflects recurring themes of vulnerability, resilience, and transformation, situating her among the emerging voices of the European indie and alternative scene.

Summary
In this Virtual Sessions episode, Djuma Soundsystem, also known as Mikkas, joins from Copenhagen to share insights into his career, creative process, and philosophies on music and life. He describes his style as deep, tribal, and organic, shaped by influences from folkloric sounds across Africa, Latin America, India, and East Asia. His label, Iseki, emerged from a global party concept that grew into a full imprint during the pandemic, carrying forward the ethos of community, rhythm, and connection.
Mikkas reflects on production as a slow, detail-oriented process where he invents the wheel every time. Preferring collaboration, he emphasizes music’s social nature in contrast to the loneliness of touring. His modest bedroom studio setup shows that inspiration, not expensive gear, drives creativity. He acknowledges the challenges of staying healthy on the road, leaning on meditation, conscious eating, and psychotherapy training to manage dopamine spikes between highs on stage and quiet airport moments.
The conversation dives into modern club culture and technology, including his critiques of social media pressures and phone use on the dancefloor. He notes how DJs have shifted from hidden figures in booths to performers treated like superstars, sometimes at the expense of the music itself. For him, authenticity and connection are central, whether in intimate clubs or on global festival stages.
Mikkas also shares stories about hearing his music used in a wedding ceremony, curating Ibiza Live Radio shows, and supporting emerging artists like Native P through his label. He believes success comes from creating unique sounds that reflect personal moods rather than chasing trends, urging young producers to embrace imperfection and learn from mistakes. Beyond music, he seeks balance through nature retreats, Buddhism, and lifelong learning.

Summary
In this Virtual Sessions episode, Sergio Matina joins from Milan to share his remarkable journey as a DJ, producer, and radio pioneer. For Sergio, being behind the decks is more than entertainment—it is art. He describes mixing as painting, with tracks as his colors and the crowd as his canvas. His long career has taken him from Italy’s top clubs to radio shows syndicated in 30 countries, including his celebrated format TendenziA Sessions.
Reflecting on his beginnings, Sergio recalls buying his first records in the mid-1980s and the life-changing night in Florence when he first encountered house music through Nicky Siano. Determined to understand this new sound, he searched record shops until he built his collection and became one of the earliest house DJs in Italy. His passion for intimate clubs remains, where the energy exchange between DJ and audience defines the experience, contrasting with the spectacle of festivals.
A passionate critic of phone use in clubs, Sergio shares stories of stopping his sets to demand people put their devices away and focus on dancing. For him, the dance floor is sacred—a hedonistic, tribal, and spiritual space that should be lived, not filmed. He sees clubs as vital cultural spaces where music unites people beyond wealth or status.
Sergio also discusses his label TendenziA Records and his new project UTROM, blending house with jazz, soul, and slower BPMs. He emphasizes that promotion, marketing, and gigs remain the lifeblood of a DJ’s career, offering guidance to young producers: humility, passion, and self-awareness. Outside music, he prioritizes health, meditation, and connecting with local cultures when touring, always seeking authenticity in food and community.

In this Virtual Sessions episode, Jens Lissat joins from Cologne to reflect on his 45-year journey through dance music, from discovering disco in the late 1970s to managing more than 60 labels today. He recalls his first experiences seeing DJs mix in Hamburg, cutting his own slipmats from T-shirts, and teaching himself beatmatching long before BPM counters or tutorials existed. His early experiments with tape edits and bootlegs led to official remixes in the 1980s and eventually producing one of Germany’s first house records, laying the foundation for his enduring career.
Jens discusses his evolution from hardware-heavy studios to streamlined software setups, explaining how production times have shrunk while the industry’s pace has accelerated. While he no longer focuses on touring, he continues to produce techno tracks and runs labels spanning genres from house and tech house to new disco and Afro house. For him, success today comes from adaptation, curation, and helping younger artists rise through his network of imprints.
The conversation explores Beatport’s dominance in the digital marketplace and the potential of streaming to eventually replace downloads, though he believes both will coexist for years. Jens also shares insights on edits, the culture of short tracks, and how DJs are increasingly focused on two- to three-minute transitions that reflect modern audience attention spans.
Finally, the discussion turns to AI in music production, playlist curation, and creative support. Jens views AI as both helpful and inevitable, provided artists maintain the personal and spontaneous energy that keeps live performance authentic. With humor and honesty, he emphasizes health, balance, and curiosity as the keys to sustaining decades in such a fast-moving industry.
